because I will be very honest, most of the products below 2K, are all very similar in their conversion. So think about it more than just that you think its better. since that really was the next "step up" for me. I upgraded from that setup to an antelope orion. I used the pro 40 with an LS56 for a number of years and loved them, I did great pro work with them. You will need to get something like an RME to get a true upgrade from either the Focusrite or Digi stuff.Īre you having issues getting what you want out of the Saffire interface? Just do yourself a major favor and push the keyboard over to the side Totally worth every penny once you get into using it. Plugin control, faders with aux flip, record arm, mute and solo and so much more at the press of a button or two. All of Digi/Avids controllers essentially function the same, so having a 003 or C8 will mostly correlate to the Control 24 and C24. Workflow is improved tremendously with the controller. With my 002 I used a lunchbox with Mytek converters, no issues with quality there!! A good channel strip and decent converters hanging off ADAT or Spdif would solve any issues with sound quality. I would suspect it was better than the 002 (but that's not saying too much!). I didn't use the conversion, as they had an ADA8000 over light pipe. Nothing mind blowing, but much better than the 002. The 003 was a good step up from the 002 in terms of pre's. I did some side work at a small studio with a 003, and have owned the 002 and now use a command 8 with HD.
